How to Mix and Apply Rid A Snake
Rid A Snake is a natural snake repellent made from essential oils and food grade emulsifiers. That being said, while mixing and applying Rid A Snake around your home, yard and garden it is important to be aware of some best practices to keep you and your family safe.
Safety First (PPE)
Before you start, put on:
- Safety glasses (splash protection)
- Waterproof gloves
- Long sleeves and pants
- Closed-toe shoes/boots
Optional: a light face covering if you’re sensitive to strong essential-oil aromas. Keep kids and pets away from treated areas until dry.
Tools & Prep
- Clean pump sprayer with a fan or cone adjustable tip
- Measuring cup or graduated cylinder (dedicated to chemicals)
- Small funnel (reduces spills and foam)
- Clean water source
Check conditions: Apply to dry surfaces with no rain/irrigation expected for the next 24 hours.
Mixing (Low-Foam Method)
Always follow the dilution rate on your Rid A Snake product's label.
1. Rinse the tank of your sprayer if previously used.
2. Fill sprayer 1/3–1/2 with water first.
3. Measure concentrate per label rate.
4. Add concentrate slowly down the inside wall of the tank.
5. Rinse measuring cup into tank.
6. Top up with water to final volume (low flow to avoid foam).
7. Swirl gently—do not shake.
8. If foam forms, vent pressure, let settle, swirl again.
Application Strategy
Apply an even, continuous perimeter band and treat hot spots.
Perimeter Band:
- Foundation–soil seam
- Base of exterior walls
- Door thresholds and garage edges
- Crawlspace vents and access doors
- Around utility penetrations
Common Snake Harborage Spots:
- Under decks, porches, stairs
- Around sheds and outbuildings
- Perimeter of woodpiles
- Compost & brush piles
- Dense groundcovers and rock gardens
- Retaining walls & stone borders
- Fence lines and gaps
- AC/pool equipment pads
- Drainage culverts and timbers
- Rodent activity areas
Spraying Technique (Clean, Even Bands)
1. Use a fan spray, low to surface.
2. Keep nozzle 8–12" from the target treatment site.
3. Overlap passes for no gaps.
4. Avoid runoff—damp coverage only.
5. Work clockwise around the property to keep track of where you have treated.
6. Treat perimeter first, then hot spots.
Coverage, Frequency & Aftercare
- Follow label coverage rate.
- Re-treat as directed, after rain, or when scent fades.
- Let surfaces dry before re-entry.
- Reduce clutter/harborage for better results.
Cleanup & Storage
1. Relieve pressure before opening tank.
2. Triple-rinse tank, wand, nozzle; spray rinse on treated areas.
3. Store product in original container, tightly closed, cool/dry.
4. Keep away from children and pets.
